FOUNDER SPOTLIGHT: KATHERINE L'HEUREUX OF KAHINA GIVING BEAUTY

We adore Kahina Giving Beauty, one of our all natural, non-toxic, cruelty-free brands that does incredible work in Morocco with the local Berber women. Kahina's versatile skincare range uses locally grown and traditionally pressed argan and olive oils to create their beloved blends.

In homage to our wonderful partnership, PETIT VOUR co-founders Madeline and Ryan sat down for a fun chat with Kahina founder Katherine L'Heureux to answer questions about our respective brands.

Describe your company "ethos" in three words.
Katherine: Compassionate, cool, clean
Madeline: Passionate, progressive, evolving.
Ryan: Be Bold, Be Kind.

From where do you draw inspiration?
K: The Berber women of Morocco, for their traditional knowledge of plants and crafts, their connection to the earth, and their remarkable sense of color.
M: Modern day women and the hope of making our world a more mindful, compassionate one.
R: Most of my inspiration comes from various books and music. To quote Neil Gaiman who was quoting G. K. Chesterton: Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exists, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten. And Madeline, too! Petit Vour was her original brainchild and I’ve been fortunate to help raise it with her.

What is your favorite or dream travel destination?
K: Favorite is Morocco. My dream destination is Rivendell.
M: Switzerland and Bora Bora
R: Iceland. It’s a dreamy place! Beautiful scenery, no mosquitos or snakes, and they have things like fairies. Also the capital runs on geothermal power.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 things would you have with you if you could have anything?
K: Darwin's Origin of The Species so that I could identify plants and animals; a sketchbook so that I could record what I see; flint and steel.
M: A giant floppy hat, swimming goggles, unlimited avocados
R:
1. A telescope—it would work quite well under the circumstances.
2. A solar-powered record player—Seven Nation Army would be excellent foraging music.
3. A journal & pen—to leave behind something for the next deserted islander.

What is your favorite KAHINA product and why?
M: I love Essaouira Body Serum--it's divine! I apply it just after stepping out of the shower and it helps me relax.
R: Honestly, I have to steal Madeline’s answer for this one. The Essaouira Body Serum is amazing!

What is your favorite aspect of PETIT VOUR and why?
K: I love that Petit Vour brings a fresh and focused perspective to the beauty industry. Beautifully curated for a sophisticated cruelty free lifestyle, they not only feature the best in beauty, but they also have some amazing accessories and home finds.
